The application employs an algorithm to calculate the orthogonal distance, as well as another to ascertain the timing of sunrise and sunset. Additionally, users have the flexibility to modify the definition of night within the settings to align with national regulations.
Distance calculations utilize the Vincenty formula, while the timing for sunrise and sunset is determined using the Sunrise equation.
The application includes a default database sourced from openflights.org. Should users find that a necessary airport is not listed, they have the option to create an entry in their personal database.
